Magic Mushrooms

I was hangin' with this cool dude who came on my yoga retreat to Tulum, Mexico way back in 2001. We decided to enjoy some magic mushrooms and headed over to the beach. It absolutely had all the makings for a perfect afternoon. I grabbed a few beers and was trying to figure out where the cool dude put our stuff, when I hear, “Dave over here!”

Silence: The Digestive Power of Taking Some Time

I find myself craving silence. Not just a moment of silence or the thought of silence or some time when Im not talking, but the kind of silence that I can wrap myself in like a blanket. Its the kind of silence that doesnt involve going to a yoga class in a studio where a teacher provides instruction or theres music or theres people wanting to say hello before or after class. Im looking for the kind of silence uninterrupted by music, even instrumental, or the television. Silence. I do, though, welcome the sounds of the birds outside my open window. And the birds remind me a bit of the whispers of my breath, the wind through the trees, the far off sounds of cars that are inescapable in my current habitat but blend in. The far-off foghorn, thats okay too.
